Is Trutin’s Bromance in trouble? Not a chance! By L.N.

trump:putin

Many people in the know can prove that Donald Trump’s relationship with Russia spans back all the way to the 1980’s (Possibly to the 70’s) and so it could have been much earlier that he became enchanted by Vladimir Putin. But for purposes of this story, below is a timeline of the public bromance of Vladimir Putin and Donald J. Trump, which proves that not only is their relationship stronger than ever, but all “trouble in the waters” tabloid level stories are simply a distraction to what is going on behind closed office doors…

  •  2013 A simple tweet by D.T. in regards to Putin “being his new best friend”. BBF Tweet
  • 2013 Trump is interviewed by MSNBC and states “I do have a relationship and I can tell you that he’s very interested in what we’re doing here today. He’s probably very interested in what you and I are saying today, and I’m sure he’s going to be seeing it in some form.” Interview
  • 2014 Trump speaks at Conservative Political Action Conference, where he states, “You know, I was in Moscow a couple months ago, I own the Miss Universe pageant, and they treated me so great. Putin even sent me a present, beautiful present, with a beautiful note. I spoke to all of his people. And, you know, you look at what he’s doing with President Obama. He’s, like, toying with him. He’s toying with him.”CPAC Speech 2014
  • 2014 Speaking at the National press club Trump again states “I was in Russia, I was in Moscow recently. And I spoke indirectly — and directly — with President Putin, who could not have been nicer.” NPC 2014
  • 2015 Trump mentions Syria in regards to Russia and him being on same “60 minutes” episode as Putin, (but did not state that they did not appear together and were interviewed in different locations and times) Saying “But, as far as the Ukraine is concerned, and you could Syria — as far as Syria, I like — if Putin wants to go in, and I got to know him very well because we were both on ‘60 Minutes,’ we were stablemates, and we did very well that night. But, you know that.”
  • 2016 In July, in an attempt to divert attention away from his “relationship” with Putin, as many view as a tyrant, Trump states “I never met Putin, I don’t know who Putin is. He said one nice thing about me. He said I’m a genius. I said thank you very much to the newspaper and that was the end of it. I never met Putin.”  7/16
  • 2016 In an appearance on ABC’s “this week” Donald Trump tells interviewer that he has “No relationship with Putin Whatsoever.”  ABC “this week”
  • 2016 In second national debate, Hillary Clinton accuses Trump of coordinating with Russia for interference in the election to which he replies, “I don’t know Putin. I think it would be great if we got along with Russia because we could fight ISIS together, as an example. But I don’t know Putin.” Debate
  • 2017 In February, Trump came out with the following tweet, “I don’t know Putin, have no deals in Russia, and the haters are going crazy – yet Obama can make a deal with Iran, #1 in terror, no problem!” Even though the previous month, there was photographic evidence and white house verification that he had spoken with Putin over the phone. (But no recording and was private conversation-not typical in leader to leader conversations.) 2/17 tweet
  • 2017 January AG Sally Yates is fired by Trump for not defending travel ban, (but also warned Trump and Pence of Micheal Flynn’s connections with Russia and his lack of transparency coincidentally) AG fired
  • 2017 February 14 (Valentine’s day, no less)  National Security Advisor Micheal Flynn is forced to resign over Russia connections and not disclosing several meetings with Russian diplomats and Putin. NSA Flynn Resigns
  • 2017 March Roger Stone is hit by a car that speeds away,  after he has told others that he had been poisoned in late 2016 with the same chemical used to kill a defected ex KGB spy and outspoken critic of Putin, Alexander Litvinenko in 2006. (who claimed before his death that it was the doing of Putin).
  • 2017 March Trump continues his unsubstantiated claims of Obama wiretapping him, and after a short investigation, FBI director James Comey admits that there is no evidence to support.
  • 2017 March 30  Since Trumps election, 8 Russian politicians, activist, ambassadors all with ties to the Trump/Russia investigations have been found dead, some of obvious homicide. Clinton Watts, senior fellow at George Washington University’s Center for Cyber and Homeland Security and former FBI agent, testifies that the committee should follow the money funding misinformation websites. Watts then adds a more ominous suggestion: “Follow the trail of dead Russians,” he says.
  • 2017 March 31 Micheal Flynn asks to testify about Trump and Russia in exchange for immunity. A move that is usually only made when there is serious guilt on all parties involved.
  • 2017 April 3 Serious and deadly chemical attack in rebel held Idlib province in northern Syria. Claiming the lives of 86-100 people mostly civilians, women and children. Wide criticism of Trump who chose to not place sanctions on leader Assad, a known Russian and Putin ally.  Trump administration is quick to condemn the attack, not going into details of actions to be taken. (But Syrians are still not allowed to travel to US for Asylum)
  • 2017 April 6 Trump, without the okay of congress, launches an airstrike on Syria. Russia was warned ahead of time, and it is reported that the airfield where the attack happened moved personnel to safety as well. (Most likely, they were warned by Russia)
  • 2017 April 7 Russia condemns US attack, and makes moves to push back. (Which shows Americans that there is in fact NOT a Russia/US or Putin/Trump connection, and that the honeymoon is definitely OVER right? Wink, Wink)

Is it just me or does this seem like an elaborate set up to distract us, and keep us in fear? That way, the “deals” and secret affair between Putin and Trump can go on away from the public’s prying eyes.  Otherwise, if it was really and truly OVER, wouldn’t both parties be airing the scandalous details PUBLICLY, like in any celebrity divorce? OF. COURSE. THEY. WOULD.  Don’t fall for it, world. This lover’s spat is just for show.

WAR, WAR everywhere, but not a winner in site.. by L.N.

get-a-brain-morans

We Americans have had many wars. I don’t just mean the obvious historical ones, like Civil War, Korean War, World Wars (one and two), Vietnam, Desert storm, and the ones going on right now (that we know about) in the middle east. I am talking about how we use the word “war” for everything. The “war” on drugs (that worked out brilliantly), the “war” on homosexuality (total success-just ask Pence), the “war” on terror, are just a few. But how often do we hear and even use the word “war” in our everyday lives? From my observations over the last few months-  A LOT. “So I told him, look if you cannot help with this project, the entire staff is going to be at WAR with you.” a woman in a navy pinstriped skirt-suit says into her cellphone while waiting for coffee.  “You may have won the battle, but I am going to win the WAR.” a father ribs his son after a quick game of one on one. And of course, the current POTUS (trying actively to avoid typing his name) repeatedly declaring his WAR on the media.

Of all of the wars that are on our collective hearts, minds and tongues in the united states, the one that seems to be never ending, getting stronger with each passing decade, and is gaining momentum by the day since the election is the war on intelligence. Not the CIA, FBI, Secret service intelligence. (Although this too, is being waged war on) I am referring to the war on our ability to have and form thoughts, share our opinions, create action and then give ourselves permission to, stay with me, change our opinions, thoughts, and actions based on new information and data. I am referring to the human instinct deep within us all to thirst for knowledge, and the drive to not only help ensure our own survival, but to empower and rise up others with our visions, words and actions. Why does it seem that people all around us are consistently choosing comfort over compassion, possessions over progress, loathing over loving, and ignorance over intelligence?

Students in Cancun, Mexico celebrating spring break were filmed chanting “Build that Wall!”, and many supporters of our current president STILL don’t know that Obamacare IS the affordable care act, and they will soon be losing their health insurance. Let’s face it, America. WE.ARE.STUPID. But why are we so proud of it? And why, when faced with the correct facts of a subject we hold a particular stance on, do we hold on to our disproved opinion as if it the last lifeboat on the Titanic? Why is our pride so strong and motivated, but our mind so weak and complacent? I am assuming that the parts of us that are strong have only gotten this way with regular practice. And when you grow up around people who do not value intelligence, but instead value cheap, easily accessed entertainment, who do not value different, but value conformity, who do not value verbal debate, but value physical confrontations, and who do not value making peace with those around them, but value making WAR, this is the result.

But although many a country looks to us as a tragic joke, (who could fault them?) I am confident in my feeling that there are many in the US who still have that human instinctual desire for knowledge and learning. Who, even in the daily atrocities that are being committed in the name of ignorance, hatred, racism, misogyny, greed, and most of all FEAR are choosing to release their pride and bigotry and strengthen their knowledge and understanding. Who, when told to fall in line or be punished, choose not to save their lucrative career like Ben Carson, but to put their comfort and security on the line like Colin Kaepernick. Who make choices based on facts and morality, not fear and conformity.

It may seem that all is lost, in these times, intellectuals. Do not lose heart, but practice with mind. For this is the knowledge that NOTHING is ever as it seems.

Women of less melanin/more privilege, use your POWER! By L.N.

yellingwoman

The women’s march on January 21st was AMAZING. I took my eight year old daughter, and was in awe of every one of the females I witnessed, listened to, and met. (And the men supporting them.) I came home with a warm buzzing throughout my entire body and mind for the rest of the day, and into Sunday. I even wrote a post about my daughter and my experience.  And a month later, I can still feel the energy of that day. But another feeling is begging to be noticed as well. Familiar complacency. Because up until now, my caucasian, somewhat privileged life has been pretty easy. Routine, even. Drop offs/pick ups at school, afternoon coffee breaks, family movie nights, the whole shebang. And although I never tolerated hatred and bigotry around me, (you can read about this on my last post) Since adulthood, I rarely ever witness, or even read about it. But after the election (and before), it is so out, relevant, and in.my.face. (As well it should be.) It seems to get worse everyday. And with every story I read, or incident I witness (Last week while at a stoplight, I heard an older white male scream threats and profanity at a young black man who was attempting to cross the street) I not only feel sorrow for the death of my previous assumptions about how “far” we have come in this country, (we elected an educated black man as president for crying out loud! Twice!) and for how naive I was,  I also feel something else. RAGE. Like a small spark that began as a unnoticeable twitch in my gut, it is growing into a full blown blaze that threatens to consume me from the inside out. And so my “Stop, Drop, and Roll” instinct is kicking in, along with burying my head in some ice cream and stop reading. This is not the answer, so now, I am working on not extinguishing it, but rather using it to continue to make my voice heard above all of the hatred and helping others’ voices that have been muted in the past to rise as well. I am learning to contain it until the moment is right to let it out. Like when fire departments use flames to burn old brush away to allow for regrowth.  ALL women have this power. But we as white women who currently have a stronger chance of being heard,  MUST imagine the regrowth after our combined burn. If we KEEP this image in our minds, the nagging complacency doesn’t stand a chance.

I know where some of those old racists are now… By L.N.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO ALL THE OLD RACIST WHITES FROM THOSE CIVIL RIGHTS PHOTOS? by Johnny Silvercloud (from afrosapiophile.com)

This article was unbelievably uncomfortable for me to read. But it is one of the the BEST, most well written, and informed pieces I have read since my despair, anxiety, uncertainty and outright terror began to manifest in the early morning hours of November 9th, 2016. When I say it was uncomfortable, I say this because 1. I am a white american, 2. I DO NOT feel represented by a large majority of white America and 3. I come from a long line of southern bred racists. (It actually made me a little sick to write that last reason.) When this article’s author, Mr. Silvercloud writes “while we as black people are trying to discover our ancestors, white people are stuck trying to forget and bury their klancestors.” he is more right than he may even realize. And to acknowledge this for myself, to know it, to feel this truth deep down, to wear it like a old overcoat that reeks of months’ old urine- causes me tremendous shame. For I cannot say, or do anything to change it. Although I never identified with any of this hatred, and learned long ago that hatred is a symptom of fear, and decided even before adulthood that I would never make any choice out of fear, but rather love (these are the only two areas we make both conscious and sub conscious life choices, and they do not co-exist), I still cannot undue the massive amount of trauma that my lineage has created, left dormant, and now is attempting to revive in the name of hate (fear).  All I can do is to dedicate my life to helping those being targeted by standing with them, teaching my children, and all those in my world how to change by choosing Love over FEAR. That, and to say to anyone who themselves or someone that they care about lives have been effected by my race (then or now), the hatred is over. I do not, nor will ever carry it in my heart, nor will my children, and hopefully nor will their children. And also this: I am sorry.

What about RUSSIA? by L.N.

putin

distraction

“Administration starts deportation campaign by tearing 22 year resident mother from her crying children and sending her back to Mexico” , “Trump vs. Nordstrom: Press secretary Spicer uses press conference to insult retailer”, “Trump does not even know how the dollar works”, “CNN catches Trump administration in ANOTHER lie”, “Bannon wants to start WWIII”.  These are headlines from TODAY. If someone searches before today, there are more just like these, with only slight differences in outrage topics. Thousands more. And what do they all represent? DISTRACTION. The Trump administration is attempting to outdo the most famous magicians, to make them look like hacks, by performing the greatest magic act the world has ever seen- and it is going VERY well. What is this trick? Why, I am glad you asked! It is called “Make Russia disappear!”

You see, the people who are now calling all the shots in D.C. (Trump is NOT one of them, although he thinks he is) learned one thing a long, long time ago. And that is that a majority of people in our country are easily led (as long as it is by someone with confidence and conviction, doesn’t matter if the leaders are being honest about the destination) and even more easily distracted. Technology has not helped in this regard. Think about this: when the newest iphone or Samsung galaxy whatever is released, how many people just have to have it? Never mind that their current phone works great, and is only a year or so old, they must.have.that.phone! I am not suggesting that there is anything wrong with supporting new technology, or even “treating” oneself to something nice from time to time, (although I think that “time to time” has become more like “all the time” for many) but rather this- when we become distracted by things that are not really IMPORTANT often, we lose sight of what is, and often we don’t realize the important thing was taken until it is gone. This, I believe is how our democracy works. Right now, it is actually obvious that it is very threatened,  and people are scrambling to figure out what to do about it. Add in a steady stream of horrible, immoral acts being committed daily (nearly hourly) by the current administration, and what does that do to even the most dedicated human rights advocate? Well, it creates three things. 1.Overwhelm. Feeling unable to keep up with what is going on fast enough, and the urge to just “tune out” completely. 2. Confusion. What is going on? What are they doing? Why is this happening? What do we do? and finally, 3. Distraction. With every new headline, we become more and more lost, as if we have cut a path to make our way out of the forest, only to find a new, more dense one at the end. All of these things play right into what they are trying to do, which is EVADE.

You may be asking yourself, “what are they trying to evade?”  Again, I am glad you asked! Remember right after the election when no person could even look at a news headline without seeing the word RUSSIA or PUTIN in it? (Breitbart or FOX news being the exception to this) It was crazy, and they could feel the heat being put on. This was followed by one after another terrible announcements about cabinet picks (distracting us from RUSSIA/PUTIN) then, Trump amped up his twittering mania (I didn’t think it was possible either…) and everything (including Alec Baldwin’s uncanny impression of him on SNL) became a “outrage”, “unacceptable”, and a “personal insult” to Trump. Fast forward to after the inauguration. Headlines were everywhere involving Trump’s insistence on there having been “yuuuuge” crowds in attendance, despite photographic evidence to the contrary. And how much it bothered  him that the women’s march had such historic crowds. And the most useless headline of all, regarding Melania Trump’s gift to Michelle Obama. What was it? Why was she so unhappy? Does she need help? (Here’s my answer to those questions, WHO CARES?)

Since then, the headlines keep coming. And yes, they appear to be getting more serious, scary, and concerning in nature. (Alternative Facts, anyone?)  But they are still achieving  one thing, and that is distracting us. When’s the last time you read about RUSSIA? PUTIN? (Not counting unrecorded phone calls between him and Trump. Because we don’t know what was said, they don’t really matter.) When people are ALL outraged, we can do great things. But when we are all outraged about different topics (Bannon on NSC,  Betsy DeVos for DOE, Sessions for AG, Silencing of Elizabeth Warren (hey, this one pissed me off too!)) our cause becomes vulnerable to those three things that are working so well for this administration. Overwhelm, confusion, and distraction ensue and we are once again caught in a vicious cycle, and they get what they needed gone to disappear. And the burying gets done by us.

With all of the outlandish, offensive, dishonest and unethical behavior of this administration (regime) any aware person can see that they are trying to hide something. And from the looks of it, it is something BEYOND bad. Like makes-watergate-look-like-a-parking-ticket terrible. And the odds are about 99-1 that it can bring down not just Trump, but ALL OF THEM, and could have national (possible global) effects. And when we take a hard look at the subjects getting the least press coverage right now, (as well as not being mentioned AT ALL by the administration) my money is on RUSSIA and PUTIN.

We all need to put our outrage on back burners right now, (This is very challenging. I too, suffer with Attention Deficit Disorder-really! I’ve been diagnosed and everything! And I know it seems important, but it is not as important as this) and focus on one question: “What about RUSSIA?” When we find out the answer to this, everything else will fall into place.

Today, we MARCH. Tomorrow, things CHANGE. By L.N.

women_unite-680x448

“Oh my goodness! There’s a little one back there!” said the shocked older woman with a long, auburn braid running down her back. She was referring to my angelic, funny, beauty of a daughter. We were on a packed “to the gills” light-rail train in Sacramento. It was 10 a.m., and the energy was like nothing I’ve ever felt. Having missed the last two trains (due to them being too full), we were grateful to be on our way into history. My Daughter was in front of me situated between a couple that were assuring that she was safe and stable, although we did not know them. As for me, I needed to hold onto the shoulder of the kind stranger I was facing so as to avoid falling upon the take off, but he was happy to serve as a balance for me. This was what first alerted me to the amazing time and space my daughter and I shared at that moment, for the rest of the day, and hopefully, from now on. As  I was glancing around, I silently noticed that although every inch of personal space was being violated, not one face was in a grimace, not one set of eyes rolling.

Once we arrived at the station drop off, and walked to Southside park, we were greeted with MASSIVE amounts of the same, smiling, excited faces of thousands (and thousands) of others. And with their glowing grins, creativity. Pink “pussy” hats on nearly every head. Carefully made signs that read things like “Love not Hate makes America GREAT”, and further positive messages. An  impassioned man chanted “Don’s a CON!” and “DUMP TRUMP!” To which marchers joined him. (He didn’t have a “pussy” hat, so I gave him one of the extras I made, and he immediately adhered it atop his brimmed one, making me beam with pride) Several cheers erupted from the back marchers, creating a wave-like cheer all the way to the front. There was no signs of things the world has witnessed and heard over the previous  18 months. Things like division, hate, exclusion, fear, intolerance, and ignorance were literally non-existent. Only love, understanding, friendship and a deep sense of community was seen, heard, and felt.

Once we made it to capital mall,  we stopped for a lunch break. Thousands more amazing women, children and men streamed past us, further pushing the morale upward.  After lunch we squeezed through the crowd, getting as close as we could to the capital steps and the stage. The followed speeches given were emotional, motivational, uplifting, positive, trans formative, tear jerking, and reminiscent of the speeches of human/womens rights’ pioneers like Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and Gloria Steinam (who gave a speech today in D.C.). Not a single of these speeches was akin to the negative, dark and subversive inaugural address given by the new POTUS the day before.

I kept looking at my little girl. 8 years old, and she is already mature enough to understand how important today is. For her, for me, for ALL women. Before today, I was still scared. I was still fretting. I was still UNSURE. But  what I witnessed today was nothing short of a MIRACLE. It changed me. But my daughter ALWAYS believed. She has never lost faith in the power of human kindness and understanding. I feel I owe her and every other woman who left the comfort of their home to stand up for females that they know, and more importantly, females they DON’T an apology for my temporary blindness and doubt. So, I am sorry. I was wrong. The negative energy that had me under it’s spell  is dwarfed by the positive energy that surrounded us today. I am so proud to be a woman, a mother, an American. I am proud of women, I am proud of my daughter, and I hope she is proud of me.
