Trumpsters and Ted Nugent don’t MATTER. What does matter? Losing a celebrity soldier by her own hand. By L.N.

I am going to write this article, then I am DONE with this topic. (No more discussing, reading or writing about it.) I have decided to pen a piece on it because it does hit a bit close to home for me personally. I used to be a stand up comic in the early 2000’s and even performed at some of the clubs that Kathy Griffin did at the time. This was her rise to fame, and although her and my comedy are not similar, I, along with many other funny women, were happy for her advancement, and served as her anonymous cheerleaders.  I left the business (and L.A.) in the mid 2000s after the birth of my first child. And from then till now, I have seen many things from Ms. Griffin, and continued to feel pride for her. Then Tuesday happened.

Immediately, my emotion appeared to be anger. I went on and on to anyone who would listen how “stupid” it was. I continued to be bombarded with the images of Obama Effigys being hung, burned, and worse along with re caps of Ted Nugent’s threats to Obama during his term, with these, came statements that if I was not outraged by these things, but am by Griffin’s action, I am a hypocrite. So, it got me to do a bit of self reflection.  I asked myself if I was a hypocrite, if I was outraged by the image, or was it something else? My conclusion was that I am not angry or outraged or even upset by the image. I am disappointed. (Being a mother to four kids, I am becoming increasingly faster at pinpointing my emotions). My disappointment comes from watching someone who has more power than many (because of celebrity, no matter what level) get so immersed in anger and resentment (that MOST of us feel) choose to make a impulsive, and very poor decision for an initial shock reaction instead of harnessing that anger and resentment into a powerful tool of communication to help lead and motivate people without power to rise up, to make a real difference.  Being a former comedian myself, I could have seen this outcome way before the actual deed was done. Why couldn’t she? My only conclusion is that she was so blinded by her fury, that her impulsive mind overcame her rational, thoughtful mind. And this is unfortunate because this is precisely the problem that D.T. suffers from himself, he is totally controlled by his impulsive mind, and probably does not even have the capacity for rational thought anymore. And yes, it has worked for him, helping his base to support him even more unconditionally. The difference with what Ms. Griffin did is this: The people who support Trump by in large are uneducated, toxic, and in many cases, NOBODY in terms of being in public radar or shaping public policies. (Including Ted Nugent. Hell, especially Ted Nugent.) When these people do or say hateful things, most people don’t pay attention, or simply roll their eyes, and move on with their day. But when someone well spoken and intelligent who is also a CELEBRITY does it, all other intelligent people mourn out of the innate knowledge that we just lost someone that could have helped us. And this is disappointing.

I am saddened because I have seen how many ways her action HELPED the Trump administration. Trump himself now has sympathy from many who last week wouldn’t have pissed on him if he was on fire due to a natural human instinct to recoil and be disgusted by brutal images. This is the LAST thing we should be giving him. Plus, the administration is using her action to 1. Exploit and harm the resistance. They are already are trying to make ties between Kathy Griffin and Democratic candidates (and it is having some effect- they are losing poll numbers since Tuesday) and 2. Distract attention away from: Russiagate, oppressive/atrocious policies being put into place, and the continued pilfering of money, power and influence away from lower class by the GOP We continue to unknowingly let these corporations and their cronies harm us, and that is sad. So when one of us applies their own “kick me” sign, it is TRAGIC.

I see it like this- If Rosie O’Donnell wouldn’t do it (a woman who Trump has tried to ruin for YEARS.) then it is NOT a good idea.

And what did Kathy Griffin get? A ruined career, and years of work and accomplishments washed away in an instant. She could have been a war hero. Instead, she was a suicide bomber.

Blame lies where it lies…By L.N.

Obama is right. In Milan this week, he stated this: “People have a tendency to blame politicians when things don’t work. But as I always tell people, you get the politicians you deserve. And if you don’t vote, and don’t pay attention, you’ll get the policies that don’t reflect your interest.” And again, he is ABSOLUTELY right. A majority of Americans have become complacent, distracted (HUGELY) and let’s be honest, ignorant.

I am not saying I myself am any exception.  More times than I care to admit I have been reading the news (I’m old school) and deliberately have skipped well written, informative and TRUE articles only to read something that is gossip about some celebrities’ love life. And as a mother, also more times than not, I have given in to my childrens’ pleas to play on the computer instead of doing the reading they are assigned as homework, simply so I can have an hour of peace to lay on my bed, and read a fiction novel. Hey, it’s easy. It’s comfortable. It’s familiar. It’s non-confrontational. AND, it’s become a problem.  Not just for me, but for much of the population.  I have begun, since the election, to slowly (yes, slowly) scratch away at the surface of this problem for myself. Asking myself the questions that challenge my comfort, and security. Questions like, “Why don’t you want to read the newest article about cuts to education?”  Evasive answer: Because I already know what it will say, so why get all bummed out about it? Honest answer: Because my kids go to public school, and I can see it already beginning to crumble, and I may get angry and actually DO.SOMETHING. And questions like: “Why did you let them play video games, instead of having them read and then report what they read, and how they interpreted it?” Evasive answer: Because I am exhausted, and they will catch up over the weekend. (they won’t.) Honest answer: “Because I am so frightened, and emotionally drained by what is happening, that I would rather escape than help my children learn how to deal with life, because I am not strong enough.”  When I write this, I feel ashamed, and embarrassed. But there is also another feeling there-RELIEF. Relief of acknowledging the fear that has been cultivating, growing stronger being fed a constant diet of device distraction, false information, judgement, resentment, and comfort.

Thomas Kemper said “Acknowledgement of our weakness is the first step in repairing our loss.”  I am finding this to be the ultimate truth. How many times in recent history (or even longer) have we seen people acknowledge a mistake, wrongdoing, or incorrect belief without being caught red-handed? For me, the answer would be zero. nil. none. zip. And this is not just people in the news, but even for people around me, in my community. Even me. My own kids have a hard time acknowledging and being honest when they are literally caught in the act.  (They often throw each other under the bus to avoid consequences.) I have witnessed their peers with the same behavior. And from what I have observed from many other parents, taking responsibility for ones choices and actions, does not seem to be a priority for themselves or their kids. I am not shaming anyone, as many parents are busy working full time just to provide for their families, and can barely keep their heads above water, or they are attempting to shield kids from a harsh world that is moving WAY too fast. But, how has this been working for us? Where has it led us? What do we need to change? These are the questions to ask ourselves. As people, as Americans. (Not as Democrats or Republicans, but as citizens)

These questions will feel uncomfortable. They will tempt our conditioned complacency into surrender. But if we actually give honest answers, they will also provide tremendous relief. And with that relief will come problem solving from our creative minds. So yes, we DID get the politicians we deserved. (Even if we did not vote for them, because we were too busy ignoring those that felt ignored, oppressed, intimidated, and especially those who live in a constant environment of hate, darkness, and ignorance.) But the acknowledgment that those politicians are there now, and are doing their worst, and blame lies where it lies, (and some with us) in itself is empowering. Because you can’t solve a problem until you acknowledge it fully and take any and all responsibility for any part (even minuet) that is yours. Then, and only then, can you forgive yourself, fight a fair fight, and WIN.

Who’s REALLY going to be affected by your thoughtless vote. By L.N.

When you went to vote on Nov. 8th, what were your motivators? I think I know from the way you have defended your choice since. You say, “Oh, he said that 10 years ago, and was taken out of context, he doesn’t really mean that.” and “Well, she is only interested in opening up the borders, and wealthy people (hypocrite, much?) and our property values will go down, taxes up, and everyone will be poor.”and ” The people he is putting in the cabinet  said some of those things 20 years ago, and don’t feel that way anymore, so just calm down.”  And my personal favorite, “His campaign offices have been the most vandalized, so it makes sense of all of the violence since the election.”

Well, it is all misinformed bullshit. Every word that comes out of your mouth is born out of  a shared ignorant intolerance. And all of it is out of fear. Fear of losing the thing we as People hold most precious. The thing we worship more than any God that has ever been.  Money. He will cut your taxes, and “cleanse” the country, right?  I know he won’t stay in office. Probably not even for a year. Once he realizes that his manipulative “business” deals won’t fix things, he will lose interest, and simply walk away. Well, good riddance, but that leaves us still with another person who is even more dangerous. And this other person is someone who truly believes in all of the hateful rhetoric, AND has the experience and know how to put worse policies into place.

Well, when you voted, I know one thing that was NOT on your mind. In any way, shape or form. And that thing is: ANYONE else but YOU, and your GOD, money.  You did not even pause to consider for even a fraction of a moment that you probably won’t even be around for long enough to see how those other generations like mine, or your grandchildren will have to struggle and strife for several years in the future and then ultimately have to clean up the mess that your thoughtless vote made for them.

You did not, especially think of your grandDAUGHTER, who openly wept the early morning of Nov. 9th, who, although only 8 years old, realized what that meant for her future in terms of how boys and men will be able to treat her and how she will always have to be in “defensive” mode for the rest of her life out of fear of being assaulted verbally, physically and/or sexually. Because we have gone back to the days when women were to stay “in their place” and who “were asking for it” by being a “tease” or made the mistake of wearing a shirt that accentuated their curves,  or just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Nor did you think for any moment about your grandSON, who has been diagnosed with anxiety, adhd, and high functioning autism. And who also, has started to identify himself as possibly homosexual. He will, for the rest of his life also have to live in “defensive” mode because he will not know why services (like access to psychiatric care, counseling,  and medication) are being stripped from him for his conditions, for no reason other than the fact that the man who was elected (by YOU) made it clear how he felt about disabilities when he mocked a disabled person in front of a crowd of hundreds, and you laughed along with him. And if your grandson IS homosexual, well, that’s a whole other thing he will have to worry about because the days of “gay bashing” are back. And stronger than ever because of you, and your careless vote.

But hey, at least your taxes may go down (they won’t-you don’t make enough money), and you won’t have to deal with standing in line at Walmart with people who are “different” than you, right?

But here’s a promise I have for you. I won’t “get over it”. I won’t “move forward with an open mind”. Because you didn’t bother to give a moment’s thought to the future your vote was creating for those who would actually be around for it.  I can’t and WON’T extend you any more generosity. You reap what you sow. But it’s children that get to reap what YOU sowed. And that is NOT. FAIR. Your overwhelming selfishness is…well, there isn’t even a word horrific enough to describe it.

It’s Time

It’s time. Time to wake up from our technological comas.

Time to consume something that is NOT a good, or service. Information and Education.

Time to stop exposing ourselves to intolerance over shared burgers and beers.

Time to decide to heal ourselves first, so we can heal the world after.

Time to know that not only does the adage “you are what you eat” ring true but “you are what you everything. Watch, listen, touch- too.”

Time to soul search. Deeply. Like with an official search party.

Time to stop worrying about being right, and worry about surviving, and the survival of those around that don’t enjoy as much privilege as you.

Time to fact check.

Time to do some research. (At a library, with actual BOOKS-remember them?)

Time to learn about American history.

Time to know our rights as human beings.

Time to teach our impressionable youth about ignorance and intolerance, so that their generations can avoid making such catastrophic mistakes.

Time to be courageous in spite of being afraid.

Time to analyze where we can individually do the most good the quickest.

Time to use tools that they understand.

To quote Marcellous Wallace (Ving Rhames) from “Pulp Fiction”,  time to “have a couple of pipe hitting N****’s to go to work on this thing with a pair of pliers and a blow torch.”

Time to get medieval on their asses. (Figuratively)

The time for healing and cooperation is LONG over.

It is time to unify. But with those that are true hearted, and good, and NOT those that want complacency.

It’s time to fight.

Hold on..

Just hold on. Keep holding on America. Don’t let go of your angst, your despair, your heartbreak. Just hold on, and embrace it. Embrace your children, your real friends, your loved ones at the same time. Don’t apologize for your roller-coaster reaction. We are all on this ride together, but some of us choose to ignore the anxiety, nausea, and the vertigo pretending that they aren’t bothered by it, some of us blame others for “forcing” them to get on, (when it really was their choice), some of us get too excited by it all, and act like idiotic jackasses, and the rest of us just hurl.

Just hold on, and scream.  Scream until you feel as if your lungs will explode, until your voice box gives out, until you pee a bit in your pants. If those around you can’t deal with your screams, they can leave the park, and never go on a ride again.  Your screams are warranted. They are just. They are essence of life, and the carbon dioxide they produce will be eaten by nature, and recycled into oxygen.

Just hold on. Hold on to your memories, both good and bad, to your experience, however limited or how vast. Remember your grandmothers age spots and thin crepe like skin, remember your best friend from second grade that smelled like a mixture of crayons and downy.  Remember when you witnessed a fellow kid getting bullied and you felt so helpless you just watched, although your heart hollered inside your chest loudly. We can only change when we remember, accept, forgive, and resolve.

Just hold on, keep moving. moving. marching, running, skipping, hell, crawling. Keep breathing, keep seeing, keep hearing, Keep tasting, and above all, keep touching. Touch everything, the people around you, the environment, the energy, the past, the present, the future.  Your action is all of these things. You control everything. You are everything. You are full. You are empty. You are so large I can see you from space. You are so small I can only see you under a powerful microscope. But you can always hold on. To something. ANYTHING. Even if it is just yourself. HOLD ON.

plea to America By D.T.

Please, America.

I’m BEGGING you. (For the first time in my LIFE)

Don’t let me take office.

I am NOT your president.

I am a domestic terrorist.

I will NOT make you great again.

I have proven this fact (over and over again) up till now.

My only offer is to make you HATE again.

In the two days since I was “elected” much more hate has arisen from those that idolize me.

Those that perpetrate these acts are a desperate group of people who are in pain, and need a place to air it, and feel that I have given them license to do so. (I HAVE)

A group of men on a subway, egging each other on “Grab her by the pussy” they say to an african american woman, and one attempts to do so… A high school bathroom graffiti with disclaimers of “Niggers go home”, along with my slogan and name…..Muslim women being attacked on the street, hit over the head, hijabs being ripped off….school children telling other school children to “sit in the back of the bus” because “He (I) won”….A young man going to the ER, blood pouring from his head where a bottle was smashed over it by one of my “supporters” because he was gay and unlucky enough to be near him after it was clear that I had “won”…..  Young people from Latin desent, having classmates give them “deportation” letters.

These are only a small amount of the incidents that have occured in the 2 days since the election. It will NOT get better. It will NOT go away. I cannot stop this train that I started. Only YOU can, America.

Please, America. PLEASE.Please.

I CANNOT take office.

If I do, there is nothing that can save us from me. I cannot even save myself, how can I save you?

WHATEVER needs to be done to right this wrong, DO IT.

You made a HUGE mistake.

Fix it. NOW.

beauties of the ballet By S.H.

This is a piece by an 8 year old artist. It was made yesterday, November 9th. When the artist was asked what motivated it, she answered softly “I was thinking about the man who was elected yesterday, and how he doesn’t like women or black people, and I thought it would be a nice picture to see.” AMAZING! #lovetrumpshate #notmypresident #nevertrump #hillarywon

Well behaved girls by L.N.

yellingwomanI used to be well behaved. I used to be polite. I used to attempt to make everyone “comfortable”. I used to care what fellow moms thought of my car, my clothes, my phone. Until today. Today, all of this washed away with the tears of my daughter crying when I told her the results. Her tears were the most amazing cleanse I’ve ever done. Instead of cleansing me of toxins that coat my organs, and bacteria in my gut, it cleansed me of the toxic falseness in my perceptions,  and the bacteria of privilege and entitlement. As it worked inside my heart like a dose of penicillin, the initial sting of the shot was quickly replaced by relief. The relief of being able to finally SEE. I can now see out my windows that were covered in years of caked on mud from previous storms.

I no longer am someone wandering through the world with heavy and dark blinders on, but of someone that just got laser eye surgery after being legally blind since childhood. I can also hear, smell, taste and touch reality with frightening detail. Buddhist say that suffering is caused by not accepting reality, and I believe this to be true.

Now, reality is my guide, my closest companion. And I accept it with open arms- today, and for everyday forward, and am eternally grateful for my little girl’s precious cleansing tears. ALSO- I will never be well behaved again. #lovetrumpshate #notmypresident #nevertrump #hillarywon
